Florists are advising people to give the gift of the ‘ultimate’ in personalization this year – by coordinating your bouquet with your mother’s zodiac sign.
Flower experts at Bloom & Wild say more parents are identifying their parenting style as one that fits their zodiac sign, so this could be the perfect gift to show your appreciation this March.
But which flowers should you buy? Floral expert Caroline Grimble tells us our options:
Aries – Daffodils
“Daffodils are the first flower of spring and represent new beginnings, which is why they’re associated with Aries – the first flower of the zodiac,” says Caroline, who recommends the bright yellow blooms.
“Aries moms are confident and charismatic, which pairs well with daffodils, the symbol of creativity, energy, and vitality,” she added.

It’s not just for Valentine’s Day, says Caroline, that a Taurus mom would love a “classic rose blossom” gift this Mother’s Day.
She said: “Taurus are usually known for being stubborn but sensual, which is why the classic rose is the perfect flower for her Mother’s Day bouquet. Yellow and peach roses symbolize gratitude for an extra level of gratitude for the leading lady.”
Twins
Gemini moms wanting a bit of rest and relaxation this year are sure to swoon over a beautiful bouquet of lavender, says Caroline.
“To make the playful, harmonious and curious Gemini mother happy this Mother’s Day, lavender is a great option as it is associated with harmony and the power of its fragrance provides relaxation and positive energy,” she said. “Lavender is a long lasting bloom and a potted plant could be planted in a garden or window box in April.”
Cancer
“Knight roses are a flower that demands attention and also symbolizes protection, just like the nurturing and protective Cancer,” says Caroline. “Giving the water sign a bouquet filled with bright blue delphiniums is a well-considered decision. They are also a very popular flower on Instagram with over 231,000 people sharing the bloom.”
Lion
As a fire sign, Leos are known for being big and bold — and that doesn’t change with their choice of flowers.
“Leos are known to be confident, ambitious, and fiercely loyal,” Caroline said. “Sunflowers, the sixth most popular flower sold at Bloom & Wild last year, are large, bright, bold and take center stage in any bouquet, just like their lion counterparts.”
Virgo
“Hardworking and patient, yet stubborn, are traits often associated with Virgos,” explains Caroline. “To give a Virgo mother some positive energy, Hydrangea is a great choice. Green hydrangeas, in particular, represent happiness and prosperity for the hard-working Virgo mom who probably doesn’t take enough time to rest.”
Scale

Caroline said: “Libras are best known for their positive, outgoing and friendly nature. Therefore, potted morning glory makes a perfect gift for the Libra mom. Much like their zodiac counterpart, morning glory are extroverted flowers that unfurl their petals in the sun and close once the world has gone to sleep.”
Scorpio
Caroline said, “As a solid water sign, Scorpios are known for their intense love and devotion. What better gift could you give them than geraniums, which symbolize love and happiness? Notorious for their strong fragrance, geraniums have aromas of lemon, ginger, rose, and strawberry. The scent of the geranium plant is said to promote peace of mind.”

Social mothers need social blooms. Caroline said: “The Sagittarius mom is a confident social butterfly who needs a strong flower to match. Chrysanthemums come in a variety of colors and are one of the most popular flowers in bouquets around the world. Chrysanthemum’s ability to fit into almost any bouquet is reminiscent of the outgoing, multi-faceted Sagittarius.”
Capricorn
Capricorns are known for being “ambitious,” which is why the carnation is perfect for a Capricorn mom.
“Widely known as the ‘flower of the gods,’ carnations are a perfect match for the ambitious and implacable Capricorn mother,” Caroline said. “They are a powerful alternative to roses due to their long-lasting nature and fragrance – their endurance bears a striking resemblance to the stubborn Capricorn. Carnations are also a common flower to give to mothers as they symbolize gratitude and love.”
Aquarius
“Aquarians are known for being trustworthy and authentic, which is why the freesia, a flower that symbolizes trust, is a safe bet,” Caroline said of taking it to the next level.”

Caroline recommends, “Beautiful irises are a perfect reflection of the compassionate, sensitive, and magical Pisces. These flowers are notorious for attracting butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds due to their strong scent. Including the flower, which also represents hope and wisdom, is sure to make for a very happy Pisces mom.”
