Kylian Mbappe breaks Paris St Germain’s record with his 201st goal

Kylian Mbappe became Paris St Germain’s all-time top scorer with his 201st goal in Saturday’s 4-2 Ligue 1 win over Nantes.

The 24-year-old French star drew level with Edinson Cavani thanks to two goals against Marseille last weekend.

Having to wait until injury time at the end of that game for his moment, he turned deftly and slid into the bottom corner to add luster to a win that puts PSG 11 points clear at the top of the table.

Lionel Messi opened the scoring in the 12th minute and the lead seemed in full control when Jaouen Hadjam hit his own net moments later, but Nantes fought back to equalize through Ludovic Blas and Ignatius Ganago.

It took up to the hour for PSG to regain the lead, Mbappe setting up Danilo Pereira before delivering the coup de grace himself.

Third-placed Lens drew 1-1 with Lille, with Jose Fonte’s own goal equalized by Jonathan David.

FC Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 2-1 and is tied with Borussia Dortmund at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Matthijs De Ligt gave Bayern the lead in the 39th minute and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting doubled the lead just after the hour mark, with Stuttgart coming back late through Juan Jose Perea.

Bayern now turn their attention to Wednesday’s Champions League second leg at PSG, where they go with a 1-0 lead.

Third-placed Union Berlin are now five points behind the top two after a goalless draw against Cologne.

The same result occurred between Borussia Mönchengladbach, who sent off Ramy Bensebaini late, and fifth-placed Freiburg, while Schalke climbed from bottom with a 2-0 win over Bochum, who replaced them.

Late goals from Gerard Moreno and Jose Luis Morales gave sixth-placed Villarreal a 2-1 win over a struggling Almeria.

Bottom Elche clinched their second league win of the season, Lucas Boye handing them a 1-0 win over Mallorca in the 88th minute while Getafe rallied to bounce back to beat Girona 3-2.

Enes Unal scored a brace in the first 15 minutes to put Getafe ahead and Borja Mayoral made the three before half-time.

Valentin Castellanos reduced just after the break while Miguel Gutierrez scored a second with 10 minutes left but they couldn’t find an equalizer.

AC Milan missed a chance to move up to second place in the Serie A table after losing 2-1 to Fiorentina.

Nicolas Gonzalez struck from the penalty spot just after half-time and Luka Jovic’s second added the points, although Theo Hernandez had time to secure a late consolation goal.

Atalanta, sixth in the table, were held to a goalless draw by Udinese as they went three games without a win, while Monza beat Empoli 2-1.
