Rihanna had the most Rihanna appearances at the 2023 Oscars.
The singer was captured on video walked into the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles in a gray Eagles t-shirt, black Vans sneakers, an olive bucket hat, matching tote bag, sunglasses and giant gold hoop earrings with a matching chain bracelet.
Shortly thereafter, however, she changed into a chic black Alaïa dress with a leather skirt with a long train and sheer mesh panels at the upper body – where her growing baby bump shone through. The floor-length dress also featured leather straps, a mesh turtleneck, and mesh on the sleeves. As accessories, she wore two massive diamond rings with large brown stones and earrings with diamonds and emeralds.
The pop star wore her hair up in a spiky bun and wore shimmery silver eyeshadow, rosy blush and a bright red lip.
Tonight Rihanna will perform her song “Lift Me Up”. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The track, which is nominated for Best Original Song, earned the singer her first nomination. Other nominees include Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand Top Gun: Maverick, “This is a life”. Everything everywhere at once, “Naatu Naatu” off RRR, and “applause”. Tell it like a woman.
“Lift Me Up,” which also received a Golden Globe nomination, is the first single Rihanna has released in six years.
Black Panther Director Ryan Coogler spoke earlier The Hollywood Reporter about getting Rihanna to end her musical hiatus. He explained that he wanted the film’s closing song not only to honor the memory of leading actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away in 2020, but also to reflect the experience of parenthood.
“It’s her experience of loss and being a mother. She is a new person now. [Parenthood] changes you to the core. I hear it in her voice. It’s her, but it’s a new her,” Coogler told the outlet.
Last month, Rihanna delivered a historic performance for her first halftime show at the Super Bowl, in which she subtly announced that she’s pregnant with her second child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky.
“When I first got the call to do it again this year, I was like, ‘Are you sure?’ Like, I’m three months postpartum, like, should I be making important decisions like this now? Like, I might regret that,” she said during the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show press conference. “But when you become a mom, something just happens where you feel like you can take on the world, you can do anything.”
